Fuji Yurari is a day trip onsen hot spring facility located south of Lake Saiko. When the weather is clear, you can see the top of Mt. Fuji from all of the 6 different types of public onsen baths, and all of their private onsen baths. The panorama onsen bath is a favorite for travelers who are visiting Mt. Fuji and want the best views. If you have some time while visiting Mt. Fuji and want to experience traditional Japanese onsen baths, Fuji Yurari is a great choice.

For those who have not bathed in a public onsen bath, but want to experience Japanese onsen, we recommend renting out one of Fuji Yurari’s private onsen. Benifuji no Yu is a public onsen hot spring facility with multiple onsen baths and amazing views of Mt. Fuji from the baths. Located near Lake Yamanakako, they pump water into their large onsen baths from Yamanakako Onsen, which is actually heated deep underground by the same volcanic activity that created Mt. Fuji 5 million years ago. From the halls to the bubble jet baths, appreciate superb Japanese views of Mt. Fuji from anywhere in the building.

If you’re looking for a traditional Japanese onsen ryokan experience with views of Mt. Fuji, look no further than Yamadaya Hotel. Yamadaya hotel is a traditional Japanese hotel located near Lake Shoji, north of Mt. Fuji. Because Tokyo and Lake Kawaguchi are located to the west of Mt. Fuji, you’ll be able to get some great views that are rare for even Tokyo locals. All of the rooms come with classic Japanese tatami mats, and in the colder months, they turn the low-floor tables into Japanese “kotatsu”, a table with a large fluffy blanket that keeps in the warmth from a heater attached to the underside.

At Yamadaya, they have public onsen baths open 24 hours a day for guests. You can take a dip whenever you’d like, even in the middle of the night. There are also a few private rental baths for those who are a little shy or aren’t used to bathing fully naked with strangers. Renting a private onsen bath for 50 minutes costs 3,000 JPY and requires a reservation by phone in advance. The healing waters are said to fix stiff shoulders, muscle soreness, and nerve pain. ISHIWARI NO YU is a rural onsen bath house with traditional wood and stone baths. Located near Lake Yamanaka, the building is traditional, and was built using local chestnut and cypress trees. If you’re interested you can experience beautiful traditional Japanese architecture while relaxing in an onsen bath here. Relax outside in their open-air cypress bath. Here, you can enjoy the fresh Fuji Mountain air while letting your worries and stresses wash away.

Koraku Onyado Fujiginkei is a traditional onsen ryokan hotel located near Kawaguchiko. On clear days, you can see 2 mountains from their rooftop open-air onsen, the real Mt. Fuji, and a reflection of the mountain in the clear and still water of the lake. Not only do the rooms have amazing views of the lake and Mt. Fuji from their large windows, but they also have traditional Japanese tatami mats. They offer rooms with western-style beds for those who prefer to sleep off of the floor.

Country Cottage Ban is a rental cottage village with onsen facilities. They offer over 10 different types of cottages, with the largest ones sleeping up to 60 people. The cottages offer private and intimate experiences with nature. Not all cottages have a private onsen, but we recommend booking onsen with a private onsen attached. Note that you may have to walk or ride one of the shared bikes to the public onsen and when traveling between the cottages and shared buildings.
